Why do I have to have my electrical installation tested.?

The EAWR Statutory Regulations 1989 say that we must maintain an electrical installation throughout its life, Testing is a way of identifying problems within a Installation.

I am a homeowner should I get my home tested via EICR? ?

Yes of course, the amount of unkown faults within an electrical installation that is more than 10 years old would suprise most customers .

When having a EICR carried out, what do i recieve once completed ?

You will be issued with a NICEIC Electrical Installation Condition Report, this will be issued the same day as the report carried out. 

The report will either be Unsatisfactory or Satisfactory. If Satisfactory the Report will be valid for 5 years.

Will the Engineers turn the power off?

Yes, Our Engineers will have to turn the power off for up to 30 minutes whilst the EICR Electrical testing takes place.

How Long will the EICR test take ?

The test will take a maximum of  2 hours, if there is 2 Engineers upon arrival the report will take up to 1 hour.

If I call to arrange an EICR today, when can you have me booked in ?

We will be able to have an appointment date booked in within 14 days possibly sooner.

What is an EICR ?

An EICR is an Electrical Installation Condition Report designed to give the client a condition of the electrical installation to current regulations.

Will the engineers take their shoes off ?

We get this question quite alot, Yes of course if the task is deemed to require safety boots due to H&S we provide our engineers with shoe protectors.

Will the electrical testing EICR make a mess or destroy my decor ?

No our Engineers will not cause any damage to decor when carrying out the Electrical test. 

What do I do about my pets ?

Don’t Worry your furry friends are ok with us along as they don’t bite.

Where do you need access to in my property ?

We will need access to your Consumer unit, your socket outlets & light switches throughout the property, if your property is an apartment we will need the key for the electrical meter cupboard.

Why does it need to be carried out ?

If you are a private tenant your EICR is required due to Goverment Legilsation if you are a homeowner it can be for a variety of reasons, Insurance, Vendor, Homeowner request.

Will I be issued with an electrical test certificate once rewire is completed ?

Yes of course, Once electrical rewire is completed you will be issued with Electrical Installation Certificate & Building Control Notification registered with local council.

Are you registered as an electrician with the local council ?

Yes, we are registered with all local bodies throughout the united kingdom.

Are you backed by a government registered industry scheme ?

Yes, we are an NICEIC registered contractor, we have chosen to be vetted by the NICEIC as they are the highest recognised scheme throughout the UK.

What is an NICEIC Registered contractor ?

NICEIC is the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting, Contractors are heavily inspected once a year. 

I have been issued with an EICR Report, what does C1, C2 ,C3 mean ?

C1, Danger Present, Immediate Remedial Action Required

C2 – Potentially Dangerous, Urgent Remedial Action Required

C3 – Improvement Reccommended 

Will I be issued with an electrical test certificate once rewire is completed ?

Yes of course, Once electrical rewire is completed you will be issued with Electrical Installation Certificate & Building Control Notification registered with local council.

How much is an EICR electrical test ?

An EICR is usally arround £100 + VAT, up to a 4 bedroom property.

Do I have to take action with an Unsatisfactory Report ?

Any recommendation in an EICR is not legally binding. However, if there is an accident relating to your fixed electrical system and your EICR features recommendations which you did not action, you will be deemed to have failed your legal responsibilities and you as an individual as well as your business could be criminally prosecuted.
